Unable to Access Peak Money After Signing Up with a Gmail Address

If you signed up for Peak Money with a Google Gmail address (@gmail.com) containing one or more dots in the username (for example, jane.doe@gmail.com), a known compatibility issue may prevent you from logging in. If you signed up with a different email provider, please refer to the Troubleshooting General Technical Issues article instead.

Is This Your Situation?

You may be experiencing this issue if either of the following apply:

  • You were given early access to Peak Money via an invite code and successfully launched the app, but now the app will not open or is asking for an invite code again
  • Your login worked before but now fails without any clear reason or error message

Understanding the Issue

Peak Money's login system has a compatibility issue with Google Gmail's dot-alias behavior. Google Gmail treats email addresses with and without dots as identical — jane.doe@gmail.com and janedoe@gmail.com both deliver to the same inbox. Peak Money's system, however, stores the email address exactly as entered at signup, and a mismatch between the stored format and the format entered at login can prevent access.

Your account and any funds you deposited are safe. This is a login display issue, not an account or balance problem.

How to Log In Using the Workaround

You can regain access to your Peak Money account by logging in with the dot-free version of your Gmail address. Follow the steps below carefully.

Step 1: Open a browser that is not signed into your Gmail account

This step is important. If your browser is already signed in to Gmail using your dotted email address (for example, jane.doe@gmail.com), the Peak Money login popup may default to that address and fail. To avoid this conflict, use one of the following options:

  • Open a different browser than the one you normally use for Gmail (for example, if you use Chrome for Gmail, try Firefox or Safari instead)
  • Open a private or incognito window in any browser, which will not carry over your existing Gmail session

Step 2: Navigate to the Peak Money website

In your chosen browser or private window, go to peak.money and proceed to the login screen.

Step 3: Enter your email address without any dots

On the Peak Money login screen, type your Gmail address without any dots in the username portion. For example:

  • If your Gmail address is jane.doe@gmail.com, enter janedoe@gmail.com
  • If your Gmail address is john.a.smith@gmail.com, enter johnasmith@gmail.com

Do not change the @gmail.com portion of the address. Only remove the dots from the part before the @ symbol.

Step 4: Click "Continue with Email"

After entering the dot-free version of your email address, click the Continue with Email button on the Peak Money login screen.

Step 5: Check your Gmail inbox for the login link

Peak Money will send a login link to your Google Gmail inbox. Because Google Gmail treats dotted and dot-free versions of an address as the same inbox, the login email will arrive in your normal Gmail inbox regardless of which format you used. Open the email from Peak Money and click the login link.

Step 6: Confirm you now have access to your account

After clicking the login link, you should be taken directly into your Peak Money account. Your balance, transaction history, and account settings will all be intact.
