About Passkey (Biometric)

You can add a biometric passkey (FaceID, TouchID) to secure your account access. Passkeys offer a secure, password-less way to protect your account by using your device's biometrics, eliminating the need to remember or enter passwords.

A passkey is a cryptographic credential that allows you to log into your account using your device's biometric authentication (such as fingerprint or facial recognition) instead of entering a password.

Security and Privacy Features

Passkeys provide enhanced security and privacy protections for your account because each passkey remains stored exclusively on the specific device where you created it. All authentication happens locally on that device, ensuring your biometric data remains private and never transmitted to external servers.

Supported Biometric Methods

You can use your device's built-in biometric authentication methods to verify your identity when logging in with a passkey. Supported biometric methods include:

  • Face ID: Facial recognition authentication available on compatible Apple devices
  • Touch ID: Fingerprint authentication available on compatible Apple devices
  • Windows Hello: Biometric authentication (face or fingerprint) available on compatible Windows devices

How to add a Passkey

To add a biometric passkey to your account, follow these steps:

  1. Click on your profile icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen
  2. Click on 'Settings' in the dropdown menu
  3. Locate the 'Passkey (Biometric)' section and click on 'Add passkey'
  4. Enter an optional name for your new passkey to help you identify this device later, then click "Create Passkey"
  5. Follow the prompts on your device to confirm passkey creation using your device's biometric authentication method
  6. Your screen displays the message 'Passkey Created'. Click the 'Register Passkey' button and keep the confirmation window open while our account security system processes your passkey registration. Do not close this window until you see the confirmation message in step 7.
  7. You should see the confirmation message 'Passkey Registered' indicating your passkey is now active and ready to use for logging into your account on this device

How to view all passkeys registered to your account

You can view a complete list of all passkeys associated with your account to manage which devices have access. To view your registered passkeys, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your Account Settings page
  2. Locate the "Account recovery (Advanced)" section and click "View settings"
  3. Mark the confirmation checkbox to acknowledge you're accessing advanced settings, then click "Reveal Advanced Settings"
  4. The Account Keys section displays a complete list of all passkeys associated with your account, including the descriptive names you've assigned to each passkey
